It's The Holiday Season...

The holiday season has arrived:) The lights, the excitement...the shoppers:) What a fun time of year. I've been busy creating gifts that I have to wait to post so I thought I would share some of my favorite homemade items on our tree...
My sister Emily made me this darling little angel. She is definitely one of my favorite ornaments:)
This lifesaver elf was made by my Great-Grandmother many years ago when I was little. It has seen 30+ holidays and the candy is still in the wrapper...it probably tastes a little funny by now:)
Rob's Grandmother loved to crochet and she gave us this ornament for our tree shortly after we were married.
When we lived in Pemberville, Ohio our neighbors across the street (The Ortman Sisters) traded holiday ornaments with us. This snowflake brings back a lot of memories from our first home.

I just joined a paperdoll ATC card group and finished my first project. This is my gold and silver ATC doll. This picture is my Great Aunt Theria. She is so beautiful, I thought she would make a great paperdoll. I hope my partner loves her as much as I do:)

My sewing machine continues to be busy creating gifts and holiday joy:) Can't wait to share some holiday magic with you:)
Enjoy the most wonderful time of the year!

Birthdays, Art Cards, Snowmen and Another Purse

It is always nice to have so many things to enjoy in life. Tonight we celebrated two birthdays, my nephew McKoy turned 2 and my niece Traci turned 11. I don't know where all the time is going but we all enjoyed being together. It was fun to wish them a Happy Birthday and we were so happy to share in the happiness:)
I recently made two Art Cards to trade in one of my groups. The tree is called "Lovely as a tree" and the ornament is called "All that glitters". I had a lot of fun creating these two cards (actually I made four because I wanted one of each also:) and they will be off in the mail this week to their new owner. I will post my new cards when they arrive...I can't wait:)
I promised to share a few things from our Amish Country shop hop. I purchased a pattern for ornaments from Primitive Raggs and I made a fun snowman...isn't he cute?
I also got this great Michael Miller fabric on the hop. I just adore it so I made another "Jiffy Tote" (see my last blog post for more information) for a friend for her birthday. I just love this fabric, it is fabulous. I think I might have to purchase some more, a girl can never have too much fabric in her stash:)

It's Thanksgiving week and I want to wish each and everyone of you blessings and happiness. I'm a thankful for my blogging friends. It is great to share our common love of creativity and grow as friends along the way.
Blessings,
Jenna Louise

A visiting eagle and a new little purse

Our office has been so excited because we have a family of eagles who are hanging around the trees and the fields nearby. Today I was lucky to get a picture of one of our friends, it was cloudy and rainy outside but I did manage to get a picture.
Have I mentioned how much I love Quilting Arts magazines? I also love their DVD's:) I recently made a Jiffy Tote by Pearl Krush from the Warm Company that can be found on the Quilting Arts DVD Series 100; episode 107-2. It's an easy tote to make and the Warm Company has some great quilting products:) Both of these resources are excellent for all quilters to enjoy and should be in every studio;)

It's pre-Thanksgiving time:) Enjoy the upcoming days with family and friends.
Blessings,

My Sister's Quilt and Harvest Season

A friend of mine had a quilt show in Toledo this past weekend and I took a few of our family and friend's treasures for her to share. I wanted to feature my sister Kay's Button Up Shoe quilt on my blog because it is a unique item. She appliqued the shoes on to the top and then added buttons that belonged to our Great Grandmothers and Grandmothers. Kay also had quilted blocks and her quilting is outstanding. Thanks for letting me share Kay!

It has been a busy few weeks. I have been helping my husband with harvesting. Yes I don't mind driving the combine:) I got all the grain in the wagons and no dents can be found in the machinery so I did okay. Here are a few pictures I took this past weekend.

Last week Mom and I participated in the Amish Country Quilt Shop Hop in Northeast Ohio. Oh what fun we had. I will share some of our goodies in the next few posts...and a few more of my music blocks. Lots of things are happening these days.
Happy Harvest Blessings!
Thanks for stopping in:)

Fun projects from Quilting Arts Gifts

I absolutely love Quilting Arts magazine and every fall I look forward to their Quilting Arts Gifts issue. Every page is full of fun projects to make for the holidays. This past weekend I made these wonderful holiday Hot Pads by Kathy Mack. They can be found on page 16.

Thank you everyone at Quilting Arts and Cloth Paper Scissors for publishing such wonderful and inspirational magazines and for Make It University. Every year when I travel to the International Quilt Show in Chicago I search for your display first:) Be sure and visit their new website community, you will be hooked instantly!

Time to reveal a few more blocks from our challenge...

The first picture shows a close up of my "Black Magic" block and the second photo is "Catch A Falling Star". I have the blocks to the song I was chosen for displayed in my kitchen so everyday I see them and think about what I want to create...so many possibilities.

Tonight my 4-H quilters are meeting to celebrate their successful year:) We are having a yummy potluck, show and tell and planning a program for our local quilt guild. I am so proud of their accomplishments, I think I will show them off one more time...

Happy Fall everyone!

My Art Friends

Last night I met with my Art Friends from our Art Quilt Group at The Quilt Foundary in Maumee. I just had to post this BEAUTIFUL Art Quilt made by Ellen Leonard. It is made with ceramics, beads, fabrics...it is breathtaking! Thank you Ellen for letting me share your masterpiece.

I thought it was time to share some of my "secret work" from our music block exchange from The Blackswamp Quilt Guild. Last February, members signed up to make a block each month from a song we were assigned. In October at our retreat we would come together, share our blocks and draw names for a song title and recieve those blocks. I will first share with you two of my creations to start...

The one on the left is "Where have all the flowers gone?". I pictured them hiding in the snow:) The one on the right is "The Twlight Zone". I just had to use this crazy chicken fabric. Don't you just love it? I will share some more on my next post. We made eight total. I will then reveal the blocks I recieved:) What fun I am having!
Blessings and happy stitching to you,
Jenna Louise

More quilts, presentations and family time

I recently gave a presentation on my fiber art postcards, art cards and photo quilts to a guild in North Baltimore. What a fun evening we had and I think the quilters enjoyed my quilts and embellishments:)

I'm still on a sewing cloud nine since our retreat. It was great fun and I'm thrilled to spend time with Mom sewing, laughing and creating!

I had a chance to enjoy some of the fall weather recently with my neice Maddi. We had a great time on our local bike trail. I also had a meeting in Columbus at The Ohio State University Campus and who did I run into but my nephew, Maddi's brother Jayme:)

It has been so beautiful these past few days, it's great to see the sunshine. I hope it is shining on you wherever you are!

Blessings,
Jenna Louise
