A Creative Weekend!

My ATC group extended the deadline for our flower themed cards! I thought I might make a few more for fun over the holiday weekend!
The first one is "Rita's Flower". This one in honor of my Mom Rita. The fabric is from a dress I remember her wearing when I was a child. The bright colors made it easy for us to find her! The pink flower is thread painted and lots of beads and bits have been added for fun. A little sparkle of glitter to dazzle it up! The second one is "My Flower". Last week I took a picture of my lilacs and printed them on fabric. The card is stippled in copper colored thread with added scraps of fabric and beads. The third card is "All Jazzed Up". I'm learning to draw with my sewing machine! I started to sketch flowers and it was cool! I once again added scraps, beads and bits for fun! As you can tell I'm a bead and bit kind of gal!

Quilting is something I just love to do. I thought I would share two recent quilts I finished. They are called "Emerald City". The pattern is from a book entitled "Casting Shadows" by Colleen Wise. You can visit her web site at: http://www.colleenwise.com/bio.htm

I spent a lot of time outside in my garden this past weekend. Here are a few shots of my snowball bush, Rob's boot I planted Hens and Chicks in, and my Garden Angel from George Carruth.

Wishing all my new blogging friends and vistors a happy last week of May!
I hope it is warm and wonderful where you are!
Cheers,
Jenna Louise

ATC Cards and some Hand Quilting

What a busy week! I helped 276 kids with a farm tour, (we discovered soy inks...they work great on fabric) and I held a quilt show! To top off the weekend I made some ATC Cards for an exchange. Our theme was flowers.
The first card, "A Flower Just For You" has a stippled background with a flower added by thread painting. The pedals are highlighted with a metallic paint and I embellished with fun beads and bits. The second card, "One Flower Stands Alone" is a civil war fabric I fell in love with. I thread painted the flower and leaves, added ribbons, threads and stamped a similar flower with violet ink and colored with pencils. I embellished with more beads and bits from my stash!
During our quilt show I had quilting expert Edith Richmond-Dyke teach two different mini sessions. Our morning session was learning about hand quilting with no knots. I'm hooked! Someday I want to hand quilt a large quilt. Today I will stick to little projects. I used my thimble a lot!

Edith's second session was a demonstration of English Piecing. We are working on a Grandmother's Flower Garden Block. Everything is done by hand, no machine quilting. I hope to make a few blocks as time passes. Here are a few pieces of my block in progress.

A few flowers from home...
I thought I would share a picture of my favorite flowers this time of year...lilacs! I wish they would last all summer long. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week!

Collage Pins for Mother's Day and other stuff...

It was a great Mother's Day! I created collage pins for my Mother-In-Law JoAnn and Mom, Rita! I think they really enjoyed them!

I also created some fun art pins for an exchange!

And...I finished a project for my friend Jayne. I found this pattern at the Quilt Show in Chicago and had to have it for her dog Baxter Alvin. It is designed by: Malec Designs

Lots more projects to work on...I just wish I could purchase some time:) Have a great week everyone!
