Quilting because we care...

Yesterday was a wonderful day! Over forty 4-H quilters came to my office and we began quilts for the neonatal unit at:
St. Vincent 's Mercy Children's Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.
My 4-H'ers and volunteers will be working on this project until the middle of July. I'm thrilled to share my love of service for others and the art of quilting with my 4-H members.
Thanks to many volunteers, (including Mom)
we had a successful day.

I can't wait to see how many quilts we come up with. It is very exciting because this year we have the opportunity to do some hand quilting. I will keep you posted on this group's progress. What a wonderful way to start the new year!

Blessings to everyone! Happy 2009, another year to create!

I am going to be doing something similiar and making little teddy bears out of remnants and will give them to the local police dept to keep in the squad cars for when they might have a frightened child in the car for some reason.
It is just a rewarding thing that I will enjoy doing
Nancy (from the group)

How many quilts are you attempting to produce, JL? Your service projects are generous in many ways. Thanks for sharing!

What a wonderful project - both the donation aspect and the teaching quilting aspect. Very generous of you, too.

Your post on 4-H brought back many pleasant memories. I still have the ribbons I won for my sewing projects in 4-H. Great fun!
