This week I came down with my first cold of the season:( I had the opportunity to look through pictures I took last year and think about those special childhood memories while trying to rest.
My little elf is from my first grade classroom. Each day in December, Miss Kudlicka would call on someone to take the "elf" off the calendar. I was December 18th and so proud of it. Mom once again placed this little guy on our tree every year and to this day he is among my holiday decorations. I wonder if Miss Kudlicka thought anyone would keep her little elf so long? She would be thrilled! He will be out as soon as I'm feeling better.
I'm sure everyone has holiday decorations they cherish. The Santa above has been in our family since I can remember. My Dad used to sell Frito Lay potato chips and was in grocery stores all the time. One year after the holidays, the Archway cookie display was coming down close to where he was working. The gentleman who was taking it apart was friends with Dad and asked him if he would like the Santa for his kids. Dad knew how much my Mom loves to decorate so he actually brought two of these jolly fellows home. I was lucky enough to get one and today it is on display at Beeker's General Store with all the antique holiday decor. It was an awesome sight to see him among all the beautiful vintage items.
I have lots of holiday items to sew! Hopefully I can get over my cold and start sewing soon! Here is a picture of my nieces from last year. I made them each a necklace with their picture in them, and a collage paper box they can unfold and enjoy. I can't believe how much they have changed this year. I love making things for my nieces and nephews. They are always grateful for handmade items and wonder what I will make next.
Happy Holiday Season to all! These next few weeks go by so fast. Enjoy the music, decorations and memories. Make something special for those you love. It often speaks to their heart!
Blessings,
Jenna Louise
